Ever hear that term 'Pastoral Care' in school?
Did you think you knew what it meant?
Want to know what it really means?
Discipline.
i.e. Detention. Suspension. Expulsion. etc.
I used to think it had something to do with 'pastoral care'. I.e. leadership, counselling, listening, talking, helping, etc.
Not so.
It's about crushing you until you conform, and getting rid of you if you won't. 'Pastoral Care' is just a nicer way of saying it. When school teachers use the term 'Pastoral Care' what they mean is 'Discipline'. It's a buzzword.
You'd have thought I'd have picked up on that sooner.
